Tales from the Crossroads ran a complete story from beginning to end. Tokkar & Jekk, though, initially seemed like a good idea but has become “Joanie Loves Chachi”, “AfterMash”, or worse…”The Bradys” – in other words, a spin-off that was cancelled before the first season ever finished, never had the heart of the original and relied solely on jokes to see it through.

Kindred Spirits, though it is a story that I wanted to do for awhile now, takes a tremendous amount of my time to create – time that I would rather invest in my own artwork, rather than using someone else’s and simply posing it just so.

So this is where I’m headed – investing my time into my own art, and a comic I’ve been wanting to do for 7 years now. It’s not World of Warcraft-related at all (though it’s possible that I may have a character who plays the game), but instead is focused upon the quirky lives of two college roommates who are completely opposite of one another. One is a dark, moody, goth-y type of girl, the other is a bubbly, naive, A+ personality. The only thing that they seem to have in common is that they’re both Pagan, though the first is a serious student and devotee of Hecate, and the latter is a “white-light-and-fluffy-bunny-oh-my-goddess-I-need-more-crystals” type.

It will incorporate certain real-world events, such as LGBT issues, the presidential race and the economy, but will do so in a light-hearted way rather than attempting to be an editorial as some comics have become.

The name of the comic is “Mostly Sunny”, and will be done in an anime fashion – no, not because everyone else does anime, but because I’ve enjoyed that style of artwork ever since the late 70s when I became hooked on Battle of the Planets and then, later, Macross and Robotech (yeah, I’m that old).

So, again thank you for putting up with my shenanigans and contributing your kind words (and occasionally a few bucks to help keep me fed), and I will hopefully see some of you soon once “Mostly Sunny” is launched!

I kept this one solely as in-game screenshots simply because of the lighting that occurs around Tirisfal Glades – some of the best lighting and shadow effects in the game, as far as I’m concerned.

This one was almost a total nightmare. My graphics card’s driver was updated, but then it wouldn’t pull out the NPCs in Model Viewer. The gear was there, but the skins were completely featureless black silhouettes. So, I had to load up the regular character screen in the Model Viewer and go through all of the possible gear listings in order to re-create the Hexed Troll in the second panel before I decided to try rolling back the driver. NPCs came back, but I decided I liked the female Troll that I made better than the default male NPC, so I left her alone.

Then came something weird – Raider Kerr and Raider Jhash. They looked fine, I could put them on their mounts, but lo and behold, they were unarmed? No problem, says I, and started going through the one-handed sword listings…and it was giving me maces, polearms, staves…wtf??? Finally, I found their sword, even though it was by no means the listing that was displayed.

I never could get Ukor’s baguette to display though. Oh well.

Okay, I got lazy with this one – everything was snagged in-game. I spent way too long working on Thursday’s “Kindred Spirits” and ran out of time. C’est la guerre!

I don’t actually follow professional sports these days, but when I do, I drink Rumsey Rum Black Label. Stay buffed, my friend.

Initially this was going to be 7 panels. It grew. A lot. But I wanted to tell the tale of how Jekk got his spider. THIS Boris is a little larger than in Tales, but it still fits…and who’s to say whether Jekk doesn’t name all of his spider pets “Boris”? Hmm?

I also went to a JPG instead of a PNG – easier on the bandwidth and faster loading times. Not as crisp, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices. *sniff* *pout*

This one just sort of popped into my brain as I was fixing breakfast.

Tokkar & Jekk – The Early Years

This is the story of the two intrepid heroes you’ve come to know and love from Tales from the Crossroads. They started out as any of us would, coming up through the ranks, the levels, the learning, the grinding, the bloodless darkhounds and the eyeless makura.

Eventually, the two shall meet, where they will become lifelong friends.

These are their adventures before the IQF days from the secretive base in The Crossroads, back when they were just scrubs like the rest of us.

Tokkar & Jekk will run on Mondays and Wednesdays to start, but if I can get some financial support I will devote my talents to the comic full time. Look for a program soon that you can help contribute toward, and get your dose of T&J five times a week!
